【簡介】 Learning Objectives highlight the concept being taught in each section. These objectives are tied to Examples, Practice Problems, Review Exercises, and Exercises to assist the student in mastering each concept module and objective. Important terms are set off in bold type where they are defined. All Key Terms listed in the Chapter Review are also defined in the Glossary. Worked examples show students the how of problem solving using Problem-Solving Strategies and Solution Maps before they are asked to tackle problems on their own. Practice problems permit immediate reinforcement of a skill shown in the example problems. Answers are provided at the end of the chapter to encourage students to check their problem solving immediately. Marginal notations help students understand basic concepts and problem-solving techniques. These are set off with the word NOTE in a blue box to clearly distinguish them from the main text. Review of Mathematics, covering the basic functions, is provided in Appendix 1. 【目錄】 1 An Introduction to Chemistry 2 Standards for Measurement 3 Elements and Compounds 4 Properties of Matter 5 Early Atomic Theory and Structure 6 Modern Atomic Theory and the Periodic Table 7 Chemical Bonds: The Formation of Compounds from Atoms 8 Nomenclature of Inorganic Compounds 9 Quantitative Composition of Compounds 10 Chemical Equations 11 Calculations from Chemical Equations 12 The Gaseous State of Matter 13 Liquids 14 Solutions 15 Acids, Bases, and Salts 16 Chemical Equilibrium 17 Oxidation--Reduction 18 Nuclear Chemistry 19 Introduction to Organic Chemistry 20 Introduction to Biochemistry Appendix 1 Mathematical Review Appendix 2 Units of Measurement Appendix 3 Vapor Pressure of Water at Various Temperatures Appendix 4 Solubility Table Appendix 5 Answers to Selected Exercises
