Peerage Creations

This volume contains chronological lists of creation in the peerages of England and Great Britain 1649-1800 and of Ireland 1603-1898 providing details of the grantees and the peerages conferred, indicating any special features and including full details of the sources used. Each entry specifies the date of creation, the names of the grantee and both the principal and any subordinate titles conferred Includes the sources from which the information is derived, together with an indication of where the texts of the patents of creation are to be found Details are also provided where a peerage was granted with a special limitation in remainder Based on a systematic examination of the documents of creation which has led to the correction of numerous errors - this is of particular value in the case of Ireland where the public records were destroyed in 1922
