其他會員也一起購買
DESCRIPTION
The first book to provide a comprehensive treatment integrating finite-time thermodynamics and optimal control, giving an overview of important breakthroughs in the last 20 years.
It presents a survey of the optimization technique, including the basics of optimal control theory, and the principal thermodynamic concepts and equations. In addition, it covers the solutions of a variety of finite-time thermodynamic problems, including coverage of their potential applications for the design of real technological processes, such as:
* heat-exchange systems
* mass transfer and separation processes
* commodity exchange as a finite-time thermodynamic process
* heat-driven mechanical processes with one or several reservoirs.
This is a key resource for chemical and mechanical engineers involved in power systems and process engineering. Researchers in theoretical, physical and industrial chemistry in academia and in industry will also welcome this book for the fresh perspectives that offer new ways to design and analyze a wide variety of processes.

THERMAL VIBRATIONAL CONVECTION
其他會員也一起購買
Recent increasing awareness of the ways in which vibrational effects can affect low-gravity experiments have renewed interest in the study of thermal vibrational convection across a wide range of fields. For example, in applications where vibrational effects are used to provide active control of heat and mass transfer, such as in heat exchangers, stirrers, mineral separators and crystal growth, a sound understanding of the fundamental theory is required. In Thermal Vibrational Convection, the authors present the theory of vibrational effects caused by a static gravity field, and of fluid flows which appear under vibration in fluid-filled cavities. The first part of the book discusses fluid-filled cavities where the fluid motion only appears in the presence of temperature non-uniformities, while the second considers those situations where the vibrational effects are caused by a non-uniform field. Throughout, the authors concentrate on consideration of high frequency vibrations, where averaging methods can be successfully applied in the study of the phenomena. Written by two of the pioneers in this field, Thermal Vibrational Convection will be of great interest to scientists and engineers working in the many areas that are concerned with vibration, and its effect on heat and mass transfer. These include hydrodynamics, hydro-mechanics, low gravity physics and mechanics, and geophysics. The rigorous approach adopted in presenting the theory of this fascinating and highly topical area will facilitate a greater understanding of the phenomena involved, and will lead to the development of more and better-designed experiments.

Molecular Biology of Human Cancers (2版)
類似書籍推薦給您
This textbook describes the most relevant molecular and biological processes in cancer, how they contribute to the development and progression of individual cancer types in humans, and how insights from molecular cancer research can be applied to improve cancer prevention, diagnostics and treatment.
Part I of the textbook summarizes the current fundamental knowledge on the general properties of cancers, the causes of cancer, cancer genetics, genomics and epigenetics. Individual chapters address the functions of DNA damage and repair, oncogenes and tumor suppressors in carcinogenesis and discuss crucial mechanisms in cancer pathogenesis, such as apoptosis and replicative senescence, as well as the most relevant signal transduction pathways and regulatory networks. Part I concludes with a chapter on tumor invasion and metastasis and tumor immunology. In Part II, the most relevant mechanisms acting in individual human cancers (and subtypes) are described in more detail. This central part of the book contains individual sections on the most common human cancers highlighting the diversity in their genetic, molecular and cellular pathogenic mechanisms. How insights from molecular cancer research are translated into improvements in prevention, diagnosis, and treatment is outlined in Part III.
This new edition has been extensively revised and includes in particular updated information on cancer genomics, epigenetics, viral carcinogenesis, cancer diagnostics and cancer therapy and a new chapter on lung cancers.
Now more than ever, cancer research is an interdisciplinary endeavor that requires a basic knowledge of commonly used terms, facts and concepts. The aim of this book is to provide advanced students and practitioners in various disciplines with this foundation, bridging the gap between standard textbooks of molecular biology, pathology and oncology on the one hand and the specialized cancer literature on the other.

Molecular Imaging and Targeted Therapy (2版)
類似書籍推薦給您
This book, now published in its second edition, covers a wide range of topics relating to the use of radiopharmaceuticals. The basics of nuclear chemistry, radiochemistry, and radiopharmacology are considered in detail, regulatory issues are reviewed, and potential applications in drug development, translational medicine, clinical diagnostics, and targeted therapy are discussed. Compared with the first edition, the chapters on targeted therapy with alpha- and beta-emitting radiopharmaceuticals and theranostics are completely new. Other chapters have been updated and revised as necessary.
Radioisotope-based molecular imaging probes (radiopharmaceuticals) provide unprecedented insights into biochemistry and function in both normal and diseased states of living systems, with unbiased in vivo measurements of regional radiotracer activities offering very high specificity and sensitivity. No other molecular imaging technology, including functional magnetic resonance imaging, can provide such high sensitivity and specificity at a tracer level. This book, written by an experienced radiochemist and scientist, offers valuable insights into the full range of applications of this technology.
