Elementary particle physics is a mature subject, with a wide variety of topics. Each topic in the textbook was selected for its accessibility to as wide an audience of interested readers as possible, without any compromise in mathematical sophistication. The text was supplemented by exercises at the end of each chapter, designed to increase the reader's skills and to instill in undergraduates an ability to enjoy this interesting subject. The present book works out the solutions to the exercises in the textbook and can be used for better comprehension of the topics. Elementary particle physics is a mature subject, with a wide variety of topics. Size considerations require any text to make choices in the subject matter, and such choices are to a large extent a matter of taste. Each topic in this text has been selected for its accessibility to as wide an audience of interested readers as possible, without any compromise in mathematical sophistication. There are of necessity a lot of formulas, but every one is derived, and an effort has been made to explain the various steps and clever tricks, and how to avoid pitfalls. The text is supplemented by exercises at the end of each chapter. The reader is urged to do the exercises that are designed to increase one's skills in the material. The goal of the book is to bring to undergraduates an ability to enjoy this interesting subject. Introduction to Clustering Large and High-Dimensional Data

Introduction to Clustering Large and High-Dimensional Data

There is a growing need for a more automated system of partitioning data sets into groups, or clusters. For example, digital libraries and the World Wide Web continue to grow exponentially, the ability to find useful information increasingly depends on the indexing infrastructure or search engine. Clustering techniques can be used to discover natural groups in data sets and to identify abstract structures that might reside there, without having any background knowledge of the characteristics of the data. Clustering has been used in a variety of areas, including computer vision, VLSI design, data mining, bio-informatics (gene expression analysis), and information retrieval, to name just a few. This book focuses on a few of the most important clustering algorithms, providing a detailed account of these major models in an information retrieval context. The beginning chapters introduce the classic algorithms in detail, while the later chapters describe clustering through divergences and show recent research for more advanced audiences.
